Who is coming to the house
Twenty years of other people's floors.
Referral Flooring installs, repairs and refinishes floors for homeowners across Burlington, Hamilton, Waterdown, Dundas and out to St. Catharines and Mississauga. The name is the business model: most of the work comes from somebody who already had it done.
Installing, repairing and refinishing floors across the Golden Horseshoe. Long enough to have seen what the shortcuts cost three winters later.

Meet Max
You get the owner, not a salesman.
The person who comes to your house with the samples is the person whose name is on the business. Max does the estimate himself, which is why the number you get at the kitchen table is a number somebody can actually stand behind rather than one that gets revised once a crew turns up and looks under the carpet.
It also means there is one person to call if something is not right, for a year afterwards, and he is the same person you already met.

How we work
The estimate comes to you, not the other way round.
Most flooring companies ask you to drive to a warehouse, stand under fluorescent lights, and pick a floor for a room they have never seen. We think that is backwards. The samples come to your house, get laid on the floor they are replacing, next to your cabinets and your furniture, and you take as long as you want.
You get a firm number before we leave. If you do not like it, that is the end of it, and it has cost you nothing.

What is in the van at every estimate
While we are in your house
It is your home before it is our jobsite.
- 01
Furniture moves, both ways
We move it out and we put it back where it started. It is part of the job, not a line item you find out about later.
- 02
Dust is contained
Concrete grinding is done low dust and the old floor goes straight out to the truck instead of piling up in the garage.
- 03
Doors get cut
A new floor changes the height. Doors that no longer clear are cut, which is part of the install rather than a callback.
- 04
Trim goes back and gets painted
Baseboard and casing back on, painted or stained to match what was already there.
- 05
Vents sit flush
Set level with the plank instead of perched on top of it, and cleaned before we go.
- 06
The floor is left clean
You get the house back, not a site to tidy up after us.

I recently had a new kitchen installed and the cabinet makers could not believe how level the floor is.
We had previously hired a contractor who was skilled at many things but had never worked with 7 inch planks before, which resulted in floor movement and squeaks.
Our floor needed quite a bit of work to make it level, and the guys put in a lot of extra effort to make sure that the job was done right. They are up front in their pricing.
A century home, and 2 additions which had settled unevenly over time. Especially in the kitchen and dining area, there were noticeably uneven joints.
Despite the myriad hidden challenges a 50+ year old house presents, Max efficiently and professionally addressed all required work on time and within budget.
Right on time, affordable, courteous and minimal disruption to our daily lives while working on the project.
