Privacy
What this site collects, who sees it, and how to have it removed.
Referral Flooring is a small flooring business in Burlington, Ontario. This site collects your details for exactly one reason: so Max can call you back about a floor. This page says plainly what is collected, where it goes, and how to get it corrected or deleted. It is written by the people who built the site, from the code, not from a template.
Canada's federal private-sector privacy law is PIPEDA, and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner states that it "applies to private-sector organizations across Canada that collect, use, or disclose personal information in the course of a commercial activity".[1] That includes a flooring company in Ontario taking an estimate request, so that is the standard this page is written to.
What is collected
Three things on this site can take your details. Here is each one.
The booking form
On the home page
- What you tell it: the room, what is down there now, whether you have the flooring already, your town, a preferred time, your name, and a phone number or an email address
- You need a name and one way to reach you. Everything else is optional
- There is a hidden field a person never sees; it exists to catch spam robots and is discarded
Plank, the chat helper
The button in the corner
- Plank is software, not a person. It answers from the text of this site and never quotes prices
- What you type to it, and its replies, are logged so Max can see what people ask and fix the site
- If you ask it to pass a message to Max, it collects your name, a phone or email, your town and what you want, and sends them on with the last few lines of the conversation
Analytics
First party, not an ad network
- The only script that leaves this site goes to metrics.bluecraneworks.ca, run by Blue Crane, who built and maintain the site
- It records the page viewed, how long it was actively open, and how far it was scrolled
- No advertising networks, no social media pixels, no third-party trackers. The site's security policy blocks them
Ordinary hosting logs
Cloudflare
- The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, sees the address your device connects from and the pages requested
- We do not use those logs to identify anyone
Where it goes
Two places, both for the same reason.
-
Max's inbox
A booking request, or a message you ask Plank to pass on, is emailed to Referral Flooring's own address so Max can reply or call. The email is sent through Microsoft's Azure Communication Services from an address Blue Crane operates for that purpose. If you gave an email, his reply goes straight back to you.
-
The office record
The same request is also stored in a small database so the office can see enquiries in one place and nothing is lost if an email goes astray. Plank's questions and replies are stored in the same place. The database runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure and only Referral Flooring and Blue Crane can read it.
-
Plank's replies
To answer you, Plank sends the conversation to a language model hosted on Microsoft Azure, operated under Blue Crane's account, along with the text of this site. That is how it knows what the site says. It is not used to train anything, and it is not shared with anyone else.
-
Nobody else
Your details are not sold, rented, traded or given to suppliers, marketers or anyone outside Referral Flooring and the people who run this site for it. If Max recommends another trade for part of your job, he will ask you first.

Your side of it
How long it is kept, and how to have it changed or removed.
We keep an enquiry for as long as it is useful for the job it is about: quoting it, booking it, doing it, and standing behind the 1 year warranty on it. After that there is no reason to keep it, and there is no reason to keep one that never became a job at all.
To see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted from both the inbox and the office record, email referralflooring@gmail.com or call 289-689-4242. Say what you sent and roughly when, and it will be done. If you are not satisfied with how a request was handled, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada takes complaints about private businesses.
Questions
Ask a person, not a page.
